A quarterly publication, in celebration of solitude
Overview
For better and worse, the world recently underwent a collective period of solitude. Though difficult in many ways, it revealed the importance of slowing down and getting comfortable spending time alone. How can I help people appreciate, maintain, and build on the things that they learned during quarantine?
objective
To help people embrace a more introspective way of experiencing life, I wanted to create a magazine that visually welcomes the reader to slow down and exercise their introspective mind. The generous use of white space leaves room for contemplation, and soft visuals create a safe space for personal exploration.

readership
Quarantine showed us that most people are uncomfortable being alone. An extrovert’s world was turned inside out as people were forced spend time in isolation, away from the stimulation of the outside world. The primary readership for this magazine will be anyone who is curious about slowing down and exploring their introverted side.
Design Direction
Homebody invites the reader to slow down, embrace the solitude, and sit with their emotions. I developed a mood board that characterized inspiration images on a scale of pure to expressive. For quieter articles, I referenced the pure end of the spectrum and leaned on centered text and images, uncluttered type, and softer, pastel colors. Feeling our feelings is not always a meditative experience, so sometimes it was necessary to capture that emotional discord by pulling from the expressive side of the spectrum.
